Success & Innovation from the beginning

GW Evans Dental Lab was founded on the 1st November, 1985 by Dental Technician, Grant Evans. He leased rooms in a Dental Surgery at Morphett Vale prior to building a purpose built lab at his residence in Happy Valley.

In 1992 GW Evans Dental Laboratory Pty Ltd embarked on expansion program to include Cobalt Chrome Alloy Denture Casting. Mr James Morrison joined the business after working in London and an Adelaide Dental Laboratory for more than 30 years. As expansion continued a Receptionist and Courier Driver was employed.

In 1994 the Dental Laboratory had been outgrown its premises and to facilitate further expansion it was decided to move to a more central larger building. After much consideration it was decided appropriate to move to the current premises a converted 4 bedroom house at 22 Paringa Avenue, Somerton Park.

In 1996 Director, Grant Evans completed a specialist course on Custom Laminated Mouthguards in Sydney hosted by Mr. Julian Hodges one of the pioneers of custom laminated mouthguards in Australia. Grant Evans embarked on educating and promoting Custom Laminated Mouthguards directly to the Sporting Clubs, Teams and schools, Performance Mouthguards was born. Due to the high demand for the high quality mouthguards Dentists and Sales Representatives were employed. As mouthguard production increased rapidly, in 1997 Ms Kathy Stavrianakis was employed to manage Performance Mouthguards Dental Laboratory. After 8 years of dedicated hard work, Kathy left the business and moved to better her career and work for Briteguard Mouthguards in Victoria.

Mrs. Mirsada Sabanovic joined Performance Mouthguards in November 2005 as the new Manager of the mouthguard department, her desire to work to a very high standard fitted well with the philosophy of the dental laboratory. TAFE students from the Gilles Plains Dental Faculty also completed their on the job training in all aspects of laboratory production.

In 2006 G W Evans Dental Laboratory expansion led to the new business identity of Platinum Prosthetics. The Dental Laboratory provided the following services to the Dental Surgery and Public:

In March 2013 Platinum Prosthetics was sold to a clinical Dental Technician and Performance Mouthguards is now the sole business of G W Evans Dental Laboratory Pty Ltd specialising in the fitting and manufacture of custom laminated sports mouthguards at 22 Paringa Avenue, Somerton Park. Dr Gina Ho works in conjunction with Grant Evans at Performance Mouthguards Dental Surgery and they also visit schools and sporting clubs to take dental impressions for the manufacture of custom laminated sports mouthguards which are completed on the premises at the Dental Laboratory.
